Who Turned Up The TEPRture?

Let's get this show on the road.

Introducing ...

So, if you may introduce yourself... Tell us a bit about the character behind Tepr.

My name is Tanguy, I just turned 29 last week. I produce music since 1999 but before that I was a guitarist in a rock band. Then I had an electronica/hip-hop duet called A.K.A we released few albums and splitted in 2005. I started to focus on my solo project and produced 3 albums and few EPs on labels like Wall Of Sound, Kitsuné, Idwet, Roxour...

.. Who are some of your earlier musical influences to lead to you where you are today?

Mainly Hip-Hop like Beastie Boys, Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang Clan and electronic stuff like Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Boards Of Canada, Les Rythmes Digitales.

What exactly is Tepr? Does it stand for anything?

no its just randoms letters making a word. Was easy to find, ha.

Who are some of the artists that you are currently wor
king with?

I just did a remix of Laroux's "Bulletproof", I try to stop doing remixes as I want to focus on my next EP and Yelle's album. I joined GrandMarnier (Yelle's producer) in the production process since Yelle's first album.

Any new remixes on the way?
The Laroux one is already out, a remix of the french band Naive New Beaters is ready and I just finished two remixes, one for the UK band Zero7 and another for a Rappers Delight re-release.

Any talks of a new album?

I'm still producing and listening to what happens in the musical world... there is so many albums out right now, I prefer to wait to have the good songs that I really love instead of rushing out with unfinished demos.

Who is in charge of the production aspect on your tracks?

I do everything myself, sometimes GrandMarnier helps as we share the same studio, we are often together.

What makes you decide whether or not you will remix a track?

Sometimes money, i have to admit. But most of the time i just simply love the track so i do it, simple as that. Some remixes are well payed, some other not, its not a big deal cause these days, a good remix on some blogs is enough promo to make you tour around the world.

Do you enjoy what datA as done with Minuit Jacuzzi?

DatA's remix made the Ep have a cool exposure cause Justice used to play his remix a lot. Its a cool remix but im in love with the original i produced, most of the time Im never happy about my tracks but this is one of my best song.

What are you currently up to with Yelle? Any new projects in the works?

Working on the album with GrandMArnier and Yelle, lot of other cool things coming in 2009.

What was the most memorable night you've had on the road? Any interesting stories?

There was so many crazy nights... But there was also many quiet memorable nights, all together in the bus driving on the westcoast of the USA, crossing all these great landscapes, forests, beaches, old enormous fields... my memories are mainly about all the beautiful and amazing places we saw, Chile, Argentina, Tokyo, Reykjavik, Newyork, Istanbul, Sydney...

When do you plan to reach North American shores?

Actually we've been in USA several times last year with Yelle (almost 30 gigs tour) and we love being there because of the state of mind of the audience, people wanna dance and have fun on the dancefloor, so we're goin to come back really soon to party again!

What are some of your favorite songs at the moment?

Eric Prydz - Miami to Atlanta

Aside from music, are there any side jobs that you have?

-I cook for myself and friends but thats all, music is my only job.

What do you approve of on the dance floor?

Anything fun.

... and disapprove?

Anything not fun.
