Interview: Crash Overdrive

First off,

if you could please introduce yourself and describe who exactly is 'Crash Overdrive'?

Hi there. My name is Vince Fierro and I am Crash Overdrive.

What influences you to write music?

Writing for me is a necessity. It's the only thing I have that I can judge my life on. If I make a track on Monday then I'm cool for the week. If I go more than a week without coming up with something then I'm a loser. Of course I don't judge other artists by the same standards, I just know that if I go easy on myself, I'll end up on my ass eating Doritos watching Ghost Hunters.

What are you trying to share to the world via your sound and style?

More than anything I just love good music. I just want to make people feel how I feel when listening to music. Music can make you feel great for no good reason other than that it just does. Thats cool.

Do you collaborate with any other artists?

Currently I'm working on some stuff with Juan Huevos from Briefcase Rockers. Also, I'm in the process of creating a side project with a thrash guitar player and the sexiest female vocalist thats ever lived, but more on that soon. Everything else right now is up in the air.

Who is in charge of the production aspect?

Right now the Crash Overdrive project is just myself.

What are we to expect of this upcoming album? Whats the latest news on that?

The Retake the Streets Ep is really an introduction to the different extremes of Crash Overdrive. Its got psuedo rave thrash banger in the form of "Black Hole", filth anthem "Retake the Streets", l33test electro snob cred with "RevolutioNext"' and hard (just hard) "You"

Should be dropping soon courtesy of the family, Briefcase Rockers.

What was the most memorable gig so far?

Performing with Juan Huevos in LA and the house mixer went out. The set ended with Huevos telling jokes in his underwear and he STILL owned the crowd!

Do you plan to tour the continent and beyond?

Yeah, I definitely plan to do something in Europe sometime soon. As of o right now I'm getting my recession on so I'm just waiting for an opportunity to present itself.

What is next for Crash Overdrive?

Exactly.

Do you have day job?

I work for an audio company called M-Audio. It's a great place.

If there is one thing you could change in the music industry, what would it be?

Right now all industries are suffering. Everyone's just trying to get by right now and I'm ok with that.

Lastly.. any shout outs to the world?

One of my favorite quotes:

"the human race is an unfair and stupid competition. A lot of the runners don't even get decent sneakers or clean drinking water. Some people are born with a massive head start, every possible help along the way and still the referees seem to be on their side. It's not surprising some people have given up competing altogether and gone to sit in the grandstand, eat junk food and shout abuse. What we need in this race is a lot more streakers."
